Blood type and Rh factor blood test - a blood test that helps determine a person's blood type and Rh factor to ensure that the right type of blood has been used in an emergency if a transfusion is required. Also, determination of blood group and Rh factor is important during pregnancy.
In the human body, in addition to cells and blood plasma, there is a unique combination of antigens (about 250) located on the surface of erythrocytes. Antigens are combined in the order of 30 antigenic systems. The most important systems:
- AB0 system, which determines 4 blood groups
- The Rhesus factor system, which defines two values: negative (Rh -) and positive (Rh+)

How to prepare for the analysis?
The analysis is recommended to be performed on an empty stomach. A day before the analysis, it is not advisable to eat fatty food. Before passing the analysis, you need:
- Good sleep
- Stop the constant intake of medical preparations (in agreement with the doctor) methyldopa, levodopa to exclude distortion of the results
Do not drink tea, coffee, juices before the examination. As an exception, the child can be given water to drink.
A blood test is taken from a finger. Before taking, the injection site is lubricated with a napkin containing alcohol.
If the child has a fear of blood, dizziness occurs, it is necessary to warn the medical staff ( pediatrician ).
