Measles
Description of the disease
Measles is an infectious disease caused by an RNA virus that provokes inflammation of the upper and sometimes lower respiratory tract, has a characteristic small-point rash, possible complications from the nervous system. Adults, unlike children, tolerate measles harder.

Treatment
Treatment is most often symptomatic: hygiene of the oral cavity, nose, eyes, plenty of drinking, antitussives and antihistamines (as needed). In case of severe forms, hospitalization is indicated.

Prevention
Prevention is vaccination , which provides protection for 10 years.

Symptoms
The incubation period is up to 2 weeks, after which symptoms appear:
- General malaise, headache, loss of appetite
- High temperature
- Catarrhal phenomena of the nasopharynx and oropharynx, copious discharge from the nose
- Bielsky-Filatov-Koplyk spots (on the mucous membrane of the cheeks, whitish spots are surrounded by a narrow red border)
- Hoarseness of voice, barking cough, whistling breath
- Swelling of the eyelids, conjunctivitis
- Sometimes a reaction to light
- A rash on the 3rd-4th day of the illness: the first day - the face, behind the ears, on the neck, the second - covers the body and arms, sometimes the hips, the third - completely on the legs, and the face becomes paler, the temperature decreases

Diagnosis - clinical picture, laboratory (virological) studies.
