The use of the Hexaxim vaccine


The vaccine should be administered intramuscularly, for younger children - in the thigh area, for older children - in the deltoid muscle. It is strictly forbidden to administer the vaccine intravenously, subcutaneously and intradermally.

Before vaccination, it is recommended to examine the child and exclude contact with SARS patients.

Patients should be under medical supervision for 30 minutes after administration of the vaccine.

  • What are the indications for the Hexaxim vaccine?

    Vaccine for primary immunization of infants and young children, starting from 6 weeks of age, for the prevention of:

    • Diphtheria;
    • Tetanus;
    • Whooping cough;
    • Hepatitis B;
    • Poliomyelitis;
    • Invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib);

    It is also used for revaccination.

  • What are the contraindications to the Hexaxim vaccine?

    Hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine or reaction to the pertussis component, if a neurological complication has been detected after previous vaccination. Vaccination is not given to children who have a history of:

    • Convulsions;
    • Diseases accompanied by fever;
    • Epilepsy;
    • Encephalopathy.

  • What are the side effects of the Hexaxime vaccine?

    After vaccination can be observed:

    • Drowsiness;
    • Loss of appetite;
    • Irritability;
    • Abnormal crying;
    • Vomit;
    • Diarrhea;
    • Increase in temperature;
    • Redness;
    • Swelling and/or pain at the injection site.

    In the presence of mechanical inclusions or a strange color of the suspension, the use of the vaccine is unacceptable.
