A gastroenterologist is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. He deals with problems such as gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel diseases (such as chronic colitis, Crohn's disease), diseases of the gall bladder, liver and pancreas. A gastroenterologist uses various diagnostic methods, such as endoscopy, ultrasound, X-ray methods, and also prescribes conservative treatment, diet therapy, and other methods to improve the functional state of the digestive organs and the general health of patients.
