Ultrasound of female genital organs (abdominal and vaginal)
Ultrasound of the female genital organs is a modern ultrasound diagnosis of diseases of the female reproductive system. There are two types of ultrasound diagnostics of female genital organs: abdominal and vaginal.
Depending on the disease, the doctor prescribes a type of ultrasound. But a clearer picture can be seen using only combined diagnostics, which includes transvaginal and transabdominal diagnostics.
Transabdominal examination is performed with the help of a sensor of the front wall of the peritoneum. Such screening helps determine the structure of the pelvic organs, detect pathologies or confirm their absence.
A transvaginal examination is performed with the help of a high-frequency vaginal sensor, which helps to screen internal organs directly at the site of localization, as well as provide a high-quality image of the uterus and ovaries.
Transvaginal ultrasound helps determine pregnancy as early as the third week.
With the help of ultrasound, you can determine the shape and size of the uterus, the location of the ovaries, the size of the follicles, the condition of the cervix, and determine the presence of cystic neoplasms.

Preparation for pelvic organ research
There is no special preparation for ultrasound examination procedures. Before the transabdominal examination, adults are recommended to drink 1-1.5 liters of water or other liquid one hour before the ultrasound examination. Children should be given water to drink 20 minutes before the ultrasound. Do not urinate before the procedure. A full bladder is not required for transvaginal examination. If the doctor prescribed an ultrasound due to pregnancy, you can drink a small amount of water (up to 0.5 liters) an hour before the examination.

Ultrasound examination of the pelvic organs
Ultrasound examination of the pelvic organs is recommended to be performed on the 5th day after the end of menstruation, so that the results of the examination are more accurate and are not distorted due to the thickening of the endometrium during menstruation. Because of this, small neoplasms can remain unnoticed.
