Dental seal (permanent tooth)
A filling is a filler used to fill a carious cavity after preliminary cleaning of tissues destroyed by caries. There are different types of seals.
Glass ionomer cements are a new kind of filling materials. SICs are low-toxic, have high strength and satisfactory aesthetic characteristics, and also have anti-caries activity. SICs are capable of "healing" teeth, they can absorb fluoride from toothpaste and then give it back to the tooth, strengthening and hypermineralizing the surrounding dentin filling.

Depending on the scope of application, the SIC is divided into:
SICs are divided into:
- SIC for permanent fillings;
- SIC for gaskets and sealing fissures (quick-hardening);
- SIC, which are used for sealing root canals;
- SITs, which are used in the fixation of orthopedic dental structures.
-
Advantages of SIC:
- high degree of adhesion to tooth tissues and other filling materials;
- biological compatibility with tooth tissues;
- low probability of cracks between the filling and the tooth;
- able to give the tooth fluoride and other microelements, contributing to its remineralization, to have an antibacterial effect;
- SIC is cheaper than composite filling material, easy to use.
SIC is used for the restoration of carious stages I, II, III, V, for preventive glass ionomer restoration, for delayed filling in case of acute caries.
