Hemangiomas in children

hemangioma

🔴 Sometimes red spots appear on a baby's skin, which worries parents. In most cases, this is a hemangioma - a benign vascular formation that appears in 4-10% of newborns.

❤️ What is this?
A hemangioma is a collection of blood vessels that appears as a red or bluish spot on the skin. It is most often seen on the face, neck, or trunk.

💡 Are hemangiomas dangerous?
In most cases, no. Hemangiomas may shrink or disappear with age. But you should see your pediatrician if:
- the spot grows quickly;
- interferes with the child (for example, near the eyes or respiratory tract);
- there is a risk of injury or bleeding.

👩‍⚕️ What to do if you notice a hemangioma in your child?
1️⃣ Don't panic - this is a common occurrence.
2️⃣ Observe the spot: does its size and color change?
3️⃣ Consult a pediatrician or pediatric surgeon.
