What are liver tests?

Liver function tests are a group of blood tests that help assess the functioning of the liver and biliary system. This test can be ordered by various doctors: a gastroenterologist, an endocrinologist, or a surgeon. Most often, it is ordered by a pediatrician for children, and by a therapist for adults.

What indicators are included in liver tests?

In the analysis results you will see several reductions. Key indicators:

ALT and AST

Enzymes that increase when liver cells are damaged.

Bilirubin

Includes total bilirubin and its fractions. Shows bile metabolism and the process of hemoglobin breakdown.

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP)

Helps assess the functioning of the biliary system.

GGT

Shows possible bile stasis and the condition of the biliary tract.
