Nasal Sanitation by the Method of Moving Fluid along the Proetz (Zozulya)

What you need to know about the "Zozulya" procedure

Nasal sanitation using the Proetz (" Zozulya ") fluid displacement method is an ENT procedure that doctors call vacuum drainage of the paranasal sinuses using the fluid displacement method.
Nasal disease is the main indication for this procedure. Inflammatory processes cause dryness in the nasopharynx, itching, difficulty breathing, loss of smell, taste perception, lacrimation. Nasal irrigation helps to free the sinuses from the accumulation of mucus and/or pus.

What you will need for the procedure

The procedure is performed using an ENT combine "Azimuth" or similar. Also, for washing, you will need vasoconstrictor drops (to be instilled before the procedure), an antiseptic solution for washing, and 20 ml syringes.
Procedure method
The procedure is performed in a supine position, with the head tilted back at a 45-degree angle, breathe evenly, do not turn the head. A saline solution is gradually poured into the nostril with a syringe and suction is used to remove it from another solution with mucus and/or pus.
It is thanks to the rapid movement and pressure of the fluid that the pathological contents of the sinuses move into the nose and are expelled. To prevent the fluid from getting into the mouth, the patient must continuously repeat “ku-ku”. Hence the name of the procedure – “zozulya”.
Sometimes after the procedure, unpleasant sensations may occur: a slight headache, sneezing, red eyes, nasal congestion, burning in the nose, minor damage to the nasal mucosa during the procedure, rarely vomiting and nosebleeds.
