Why did I become a doctor?
I made the decision to become a doctor in high school. It was always important to me that the profession not only benefit people, but also be interesting, give me the opportunity to constantly develop and discover something new. My teacher, A. Ya. Tsyganenko, once said words that I remembered for the rest of my life: "Learning to heal is not everything... The main thing is to love people." It was my love for people, my desire to help, my insatiable thirst for knowledge, and my desire for continuous professional development that led me into medicine. And today I am convinced that these values remain the foundation of a true medical vocation.
A funny case from practice
Over the years of working as an ultrasound doctor, I have realized that patients can surprise no less than the results of the examinations. There are two questions I hear particularly often: — Doctor, is my husband pregnant by any chance? "Doctor, will I live? How long do I have left?" The first thing I always want to answer with a smile is: "Let's first make sure that this is physiologically possible!" 😊 And the second, although it sometimes sounds funny, actually forces you to be especially careful. After all, behind such a question often lies human fear and anxiety. Therefore, in my work, it is important not only to see and correctly describe what the device shows, but also to listen to the patient, explain the results, and support them with a kind word. After all, an ultrasound doctor sees a lot of interesting things every day, but most importantly, he always remembers that on the other side of the sensor there is a person who trusts him with his health.
