Vaccination against pneumococcal infection is an effective and currently the only way to maximally prevent diseases caused by pneumococcal disease. Two vaccines for the prevention of pneumococcal infection are registered in Ukraine: Prevenar 13 and Synflorix . The vaccine Prevenar 13 is used for children from 6 weeks of age and for adults, and protects against 13 varieties (serotypes) of pneumococci. In addition to pneumococcal strains, this vaccine also contains components against hemophilic infection. Thus, vaccination with this vaccine reduces the risk of otitis media caused by Haemophilus bacillus. Each of the vaccines forms a stable immunity against pneumococcal types, which are responsible for 90% of severe pathologies caused by pneumococcal infection, so it has a high degree of protection.
