Description of the disease

Rubella is an acute viral infection that causes inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. Possible complications: otitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia, arthritis, pathological inflammatory processes of the central nervous system (meningitis, encephalitis). During pregnancy, rubella is very dangerous for the fetus. Transmission method: airborne, from mother to fetus, through toys, household items. Cases of infection occur more often in the warm season.

  • Treatment

    Treatment is symptomatic: bed rest, balanced diet, with a mild form does not require hospitalization.

  • Prevention

    Prevention is vaccination , which provides protection for 10 years.

  • Symptoms

    The incubation period is 11-25 days, after which symptoms appear:

    • Malaise, headache
    • Rash in the form of rounded red-pink spots that disappear after a few days (first on the face, neck, scalp, behind the ears, then spreading to the entire body, except for the palms and soles)
    • Fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, enlarged lymph nodes

    Diagnosis - clinical picture, laboratory blood test for the presence of specific antibodies.
