A low level of ferritin can be observed with restless legs syndrome, which is not necessarily associated with anemia. The minimum level of determination of ferritin (threshold level) is 30 ng/ml.
What are the indications for analysis?
A quick test for ferritin allows you to estimate iron reserves in the body. It is used to diagnose iron-deficiency anemia, which can develop in chronic diseases of the digestive organs, acute and chronic liver diseases.
How to prepare for the analysis?
Blood is taken from a finger for research. It is necessary to drink enough water 15-20 minutes before the intake, you can eat.
6-12 hours before the study, you should avoid drinking alcohol, smoking, and limit physical activity. It is also worth excluding the use of medications, as they can affect the results.
If it is impossible to cancel the medication, it is necessary to inform the laboratory about this.
